Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Big Walk 2026!
The Big Walk 2026 is a sponsored walk taking place on Friday 3 July 2026, fundraising for childhood lung disease research at the University of Sheffield.
Volunteers are at the heart of the Big Walk, ensuring that the day runs smoothly and giving the best possible experience for our participants. We really couldn’t deliver this event without our passionate group of volunteers and we're incredibly grateful to each and every one of you.
Routes and roles
There are two route options for walkers - a 20 mile and a 30 mile route. We need volunteers at various points along each route. The 20 mile route begins at Strines Inn, and the 30 mile route begins at Rivelin. Both routes finish at The Edge, Endcliffe Village, S10 3ED. The 20 mile route can be viewed here and the 30 mile route can be viewed here.
Available roles include:
You can choose to work more than one role - i.e. registration desk at the start line, then the finish line at The Edge if they are at different times. The software will prevent you from doing so if there is a timing clash.
Once you’ve registered, you'll receive an email confirmation with the option to save the event in your Google calendar - we strongly recommend you do this. And please make sure to complete our Volunteer Google form once you have registered - this will be included with your confirmation email.
